"Snowmageddon," "Snopocalypse" or "Snoverkill," this year's devastating 55 inches of snow have wreaked havoc on the county school system's schedule, and after the most recent storms students are facing the prospect of attending classes into the summer. "It's a problem," said Paul Regnier, spokesman for Fairfax County schools. "It really breaks things up." Regnier said one of the drawbacks to the lost instructional time is that students have less time to prepare for the Standards of Learning exams. "One of the issues is that the SOLs and the other tests are scheduled for a certain time of year," he said. "Having all these days off of school at this time of year obviously gives you less preparation for those kinds of tests."
