| Fairfax County police officers have managed to stay on the beat during the major snowstorms of the past week, according to Deborah Burnett, commander of the Reston District police station. |
| "We've been doing a lot of preplanning prior to the storm to make sure that we've got everything in order," Burnett said Tuesday before the second storm hit. She said a lot of internal planning occurred prior to the storms and officers worked to ensure the station's parking lots and vehicles stayed clear of snow. |
| Over the weekend many secondary roads were impassable and officers have been using sport utility vehicles borrowed from the county to attend to calls, Burnett said. "Many of the roads the cruisers would not be able to get by," she said. |
