Reston, VA is a planned community founded in 1964 with post-war concepts for land use and residential/corporate development outside a main city. In 2012 CNN ranked it as the 7th best place to live in the United States.

Annual Events

The 25th Annual Northern Virginia Fine Arts Festival
Saturday to Sunday May 21st 2016 (10am to 6pm) and Sunday May 22, 2016 (10am to 5pm).
The festival is a presentation by the Greater Reston Arts Center (GRACE). Hundreds of artists from across American will be showing and selling their work. Two days of live entertainment with children’s activities. A $5 donation is encouraged.

Concerts on the Town

26th annual series; June 4th to August 27th.
The RTCA presents a series of free concerts in the town pavilion, rain of shine. Live bands from around the country perform a variety of music genres.

From June 17 to 18, 2016 at Pavilion and Market Street, the town hosts Northern Virginia’s largest outdoor food festival with samples from the regions restaurants, live music, beer and wine gardens and more. Admission is free; tasting tickets can be purchased on site.

Special Attractions

Reston Town Center is planned with people in mind. The RTC is an open-air plaza surrounded by specialty shops, restaurants, entertainment and a seasonal ice skating rink. Host to hundreds of events, there’s always a reason to visit.

Lake Fairfax Park

Four-hundred-seventy-six acres of fishing, camping, boating and swimming for the entire family. Visit on April 16th for the Pirate Fest. Come in pirate costume and compete for prizes.

Too often the idea of a planned community is resisted for sounding too much like a controlled community. They have demonstrated how vital a well planned town can be. It’s a finely balanced mixture of commercial and residential opportunities with no one in the family neglected. It takes no time at all to understand why CNN ranked it so high as one of the best places to live.
